The Happiness Challenge: Day 5

I knew a girl once who told me she didn't particularly enjoy a mani/pedi. I don't remember her name because we're no longer friends. I mean, that's the weirdest thing I've ever heard. Okay, maybe not the weirdest thing I've ever heard—let's face it, people are freaks. But it's up there.

I love mani/pedi nights as much for the pretty nails and soft skin I leave with as I do for the girl time and blissed-out break from the day. Lately, some girlfriends and I have been getting together weekly for a mani/pedi, sometimes just a pedi or even a quick polish change. That massage chair (seat massager OFF, thankyouverymuch) is an amazing place to catch up, gossip, and occasionally drink wine from an insulated coffee cup. (Shhh.) Lunches and happy hours are great, but there's something about the nail salon—the 2012 version of beauty shop gossip. Plus, the nail ladies always tell us we're pretty and inquire about our boyfriends (and lack thereof), just like this:

I know you've all seen this—I even posted it once before—but it's one of my favorites and so absolutely true!

And in case you're curious, I'm still using lots of Lincoln Park After Dark on my toes, and alternating between Skull & Glossbones and French Quarter for Your Thoughts on my nails. I hope this information changes someone's life.
