I've just recently gotten hooked. And I loved it. At first.
But during a cousins discussion over Christmas, it was brought to my attention that the Gosselin family is the recipient of some serious backlash. And I get it, I do. Kate can be a little…much. But, honestly, I think it's the closest any "reality" show comes to reality. So I'll keep watching, trying not to judge.
However.
That child, one of the twins, Mady. Uh-huh. No way. I would beat the crap out of my kid if she behaved that way. All. The. Time. Okay, okay, that's a little harsh. I wouldn't, uh, beat the crap out of my kid. But, seriously. She frustrates me. What a miserable little runt. All of the sassing and attitude and little pinched-up faces. The arm folding and huffiness. The…the…misery of it all. Ugh. I mean, just look at her in this picture!
Can we discuss?

I've never watched it, but they seriously irritate me. Can't say why for sure.
I've watched it a few times, but it really stresses me out. As for Mady, you wouldn't beat the crap out of her, because you wouldn't have time!
I just recently saw this show. It was an episode about potty training. If I had to potty train that many toddlers I would lose my mind. I think the kids are adorable but Kate does seem really hard on Jon. Then again, she does have to spend all day with a million children. I'd probably punch my husband in the face every day when he came in from work.
Soooo agree with you about Mady. My husband can't believe her attitude sometimes...But I'm definitely hooked to the show.
The first step is to admit you have a problem: I AM ADDICTED TO JK+E! We Tivo it every week. And every week we look at each other at least twice and say "That Mady needs a good, old-fashioned butt-whooping." It's baffling b/c the other kids are so well-behaved. I noticed that she got left with a babysitter in Hawaii while everyone else went on adventures. They said that was their new strategy for dealing with her bad behavior. And yes, K can be a little harsh, but it's so real. Sometimes I just snap and then think "I understand your attitude now, Kate."
I LOOOOOVE J&K+8!! I'm pretty sure I've seen every episode and got the book for Christmas - read it in two days. I - too- think Kate can be a little overbearing, but after reading the book I got a better picture of the whys of her life - just the management of individual needs for each child [they all were on different formula for instance - can you imagine?!] they're believers and believe that without a doubt God has ordained them to be the parents of these children and give Him all the credit for helping them through day-by-day. A good book - I'll be giving it away on my blog next month...[after a couple of friends read it.]
i am facinated by how one maages a "litter" of kids-seriously that many at a time should be left to the dogs.
but what they do without killing each other is amazing. and kate' organizational skills are top notch.
as far as mady goes--kate said on one show that she is perfectly fine when given attention....attention that being 1 of 8 does not allow for very often. anyway, overall, good show, more power too them but they are very lucky in many ways.
I watch and I have one of those Maddy's. She is almost 9 and sometimes I wonder if it is her or me?! Kate is a little overbearing and so am I. I think that it is a result of two peas in a pod. The mom and daughter have the same personality.
Stephanie...I think you kind of look like Kate.
